EQUINE CONTROL, SAFETY & OR
TRAINER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

These lessons are taught over ONE WEEK (5 full days). This program is designed to provide you and your horse an equine communication cue system through continuing education. The lessons taught will be giving you Multi-levels for personal Safety and Control. You determine the limit to your learning. Or an 8 level program advancing toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. All advancement must be in numeric sequence beginning with Level 1. The course will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 1

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Review Section 1 & highlight Section 2 of John Lyon’s Ground Control Manual. And handout material.
    • Begin in the round pens.
  • ROUND PENNING.
  • SACKING OUT THE HORSE.
  • HALTERING / BRIDLING.
  • IN HAND GROUND CONTROL.
  • UNDERSTANDING THE GIVE TO THE BIT CONCEPT. (GIVING SPOTS #1&2)
  • GO FORWARD FROM THE GROUND.
  • CONTROLLING THE HIPS.
  • TEACHING STOP.
  • CONNECTING TO SHOULDERS.
  • FIRST SADDLING.
  • FIRST RIDE.
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Welcome to this Level two course. The second in a series clinics of continuing education. Or the second of an 8 level program advancing your knowledge toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. This clinic will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 2

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Review Section 1 & highlight Section 2 of John Lyon’s Ground Control Manual. And handout material.
    • Begin in the round pens.
  • ADVANCED ROUND PENNING.
  • OFFERING W.E.S.N. LESSON, IN HAND GROUND CONTROL.
  • SACKING OUT THE HORSE, SADDLING and RIDE.
  • ANCHOR THE REIN, GIVE TO THE BIT FROM THE SADDLE (Giving Spots 1 & 2).
  • TEACHING HEAD DOWN FROM THE SADDLE (Calm down cue)
  • TEACHING HIP AWAY (One rein)
  • TEACHING A GO FORWARD CUE FROM THE SADDLE. (legs)
  • DISENGAGING THE HIP. (Emergency Brakes)
  • TEACHING STOP.
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Welcome to this Level 3 course. The third in a series clinics of continuing education. Or the third of an 8 level program advancing your knowledge toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. This clinic will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 3

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
  • ADVANCING WESN LESSON. ADVANCING IN-HAND GROUND CONTROL. ADVANCING ROUND PENNING.
  • IMPROVING - DISENGAGING THE HIP
  • CONNECTING THE REINS TO THE SHOULDERS. RR-RS-RIGHT, LR-LS-LEFT.
  • CHANGE OF DIRECTION - KEEPING THE SOFTNESS. SERPENTINE EXERCISE.
  • CONE PATTERNS - RIGHT AND LEFT DIRECTIONS – CHANGING REINS.
  • CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKES.
  • ADVANCING THE GO FORWARD CUE TO A CHANGE OF LEG SPEED CUE - WALK – TROT.
  • RIDE IN A STRAIGHT LINE.
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

LEVEL 4

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Reflect on homework
  • ADVANCED IN-HAND GROUND CONTROL ELEVATING THE HORSES SHOULDERS BY COLLECTION
  • ADVANCING SOFTENING THROUGH THE SHOULDERS, SPOTS 3. 4. 5. & 6.
  • ADVANCING SHOULDER CONTROL – STEP ON CLOCK NUMBERS
  • BUILD BETTER BRAKES FOR , STRAIGHT, COLLECTED STOPS.ROLL BACKS
  • IMPROVING FORWARD MOVEMENT: WALK, EXTENDED WALK, TROT,
  • SERPENTINE EXERCISE, EACH REIN, BOTH DIRERCTIONS
  • FINE-TUNE HIP CONTROL - HIPAWAY (Fence Exercise)
  • CHANGE OF DIRECTION – CONE PATERNS – CHANGING REINS.
  • RIDE IN A STRAIGHT LINE.
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

  • ADVANCED IN-HAND GROUND CONTROL ELEVATING THE HORSES SHOULDERS BY COLLECTION
  • ADVANCING SOFTENING THROUGH THE SHOULDERS, SPOTS 6, 7, 8, & 9.
  • VERY LIGHT SUPER POWER BRAKES, STRAIGHT, COLLECTED STOPS.ROLL BACKS
  • ADVANCING SHOULDER CONTROL, STEP ON ALL CLOCK NUMBERS TO BOTH DIRECTIONS, (DIMINISHING CIRCLE EXERCISE)
  • ADVANCING FORWARD MOVEMENT: WALK, EXTENDED WALK, TROT, EXTENDED TROT, CANTER.
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Welcome to this Level 6 clinic. The sixth in a series clinics of continuing education. Or the sixth of an 8 level program advancing your knowledge toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. This clinic will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 6

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Review homework
  • (KNOW) SOFTENING THROUGH THE SHOULDERS, SPOTS 6, 7, 8, & 9. (TEST)
  • “THINK STOP “ POWER BRAKES.
  • SHOULDER CONTROL, STEP ON ALL CLOCK NUMBERS TO BOTH DIRECTIONS, (DIMINISHING CIRCLE EXERCISE)
  • SERPENTINE EXERCISE, SINGLE REIN. ( Correct Elevation, Giving to the bit, lose rein)
  • SPEED TRANSITIONS UP & DOWN IN LARGE CIRCLES.TROTTING and REVERSE ARC CIRCLES.
  • ADVANCING CONTROL, USING BOTH REINS TOGETHER (Both directions).
  • ADVANCING HIPS IN EXERCISE TO SET UP FOR CORRECT LEAD
  • CANTERING CIRCLES
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Welcome to this Level 7clinic. The seventh in a series clinics of continuing education. Or the seventh of an 8 level program advancing your knowledge toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. This clinic will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 7

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Review homework
  • GIVE TO THE BIT - HEAD DOWN - CHANGHING SPEED, GIVING TO #6 (KEEPING Collection) (TEST)
  • THINK STOP POWER BRAKES, STRAIGHT, COLLECTED STOPS, SLIDING STOPS (working to lower the horses head through the stop)
  • HIPS IN EXERCISE TO SET UP FOR CORRECT LEAD (working to lower the horses head and softening to spot #6)
  • CANTER LARGE CIRCLES. (Both directions) (working to lower the horses head and softening to spot #6)
  • DIMINISHING CIRCLE. EXERCISE (Single rein) (Both reins) SLOW SPINS
  • TEST - STUDENT MUST PASS A COMPENTCY EXAM (DEMONSTRATION AND DISCUSSION) TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Welcome to this Level 8 course. The eighth in a series clinics of continuing education. Or the last of an 8 level program advancing your knowledge toward TRAINER CERTIFICATION. This clinic will be presented using the following curriculum:

LEVEL 8

10am – 4pm each week day (Sunday 1pm – 4pm) You may attend church with us if you wish.
  • First day at 10am there will be a riders meeting to:
    • Complete any paperwork and unfinished business.
    • Get acquainted.
    • Review homework
  • GIVING TO SPOT #6 (KEEPING Collection) TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • NO PRESSURE -POWER BRAKES, STRAIGHT, COLLECTED STOPS, SLIDING STOPS (working to lower the horses head through the stop) TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • HIPS IN CORRECT LEAD TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • CANTER LARGE & SMALL CIRCLES. (Both directions) (working to lower the horses head and softening to spot #6) TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • THREE STEP STOP EXERCISE FOR COLLECTED STOPS, SLIDING STOP. (Fencing exercises) (working to lower the horses head and softening to spot #6) TEST - Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • TURNS AFTER THE STOP – ROLLBACKS – START SPINS. (The corner exercise) TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
  • SPEED CHANGES, LEAD CHANGES, CANTER DEPART, FLYING LEAD CHANGES, TEST- Student must be able to demonstrate and explain how to teach it.
